We didn't make it...

I spent yesterday taking off from work so I could take Perl to the vet and get some other things done. Since Pooks' daughter, tiaroo, is off from school for the summer we decided to spend the day together. I picked her up around 11 and then we went back to my house to get Perl. Back at my house, we found that Pooks has all of my cat carriers and I don't have any. So off to wally world we went. We spent about 2 hours and $200 in wally world. It was fun browsing around and buying stuff outside the usual (I got some new pillows). We got MickyD's on the way home when it started a downpour. So we hung out at home and started playing kingdom hearts II. Actually Tiaroo played, and I provided color comentary on the game & annoyance on the side. We just stayed in the rest of the afternoon watching the rain and playing the game. We both had a really good time and Perl never made it to the vet... We'll try again on Saturday.

A Chinese Hostess & IP Attackers & Chunky Bits Falling out of my mouth....

Wednesday night Pooks & I & Maggs went to a Chinese restaurant for dinner. It's place we've just recently started going to in Five Points, the Wasabi Buffet. Decent for lunch a little expensive for dinner, but good either way. On Wednesday night I noticed the hostess was wearing a nice black ruffly shirt w/ a jeans skirt. On the way out I complemented her and she was really surprised. In a way I felt compelled to compliment her. That's what really makes it so strange, that feeling of being compelled/driven...

I've been driven nuts by the latest batch of hackers trying to break into my systems, both the remote ones and the local ones. So I've kicked back into work on my IP Attackers project. Hopefully, by providing a mechanism for getting the information out about who happens to be probing my site, someone else can use that info to block the attacker as well. I've spent yesterday and today working on it. It's been dificult b/c work has been very interrupt-driven lately. (Plus I should really only be working on it at home. :-) )

I've kinda kicked the WoW habit for a little bit, so I can get to work on other things like the IP Attackers. Of course, I'm still way behind on dishes.

Going with dishes and leading into eating and then into dentists, I was flossing, like my dentist told me to do, and a fricking chunk of a tooth came out. It was a tooth that I'm supposed to get fixed soon anyway, so I wasn't super surprised, but it is a bit distressing to have a chunk of a tooth come out. Now I have this weird feeling hole in the right side of my lower jaw. I sense a trip to Root Canal city in my future.

Great Weekend with Pooks...

I had a great weekend with Pooks, we went on Saturday to the Talbot Island beach and had a picnic and played in the surf. Pooks spotted a horseshoe crab that had buried itself in the sand. I tried digging it up and that's when I found out it was still alive. It scared the crap out of me when it started wiggling it's tail. We spent time just digging in the sand and playing around. It was really cool and relaxing. We just spent time together relaxing in each others company.

The rest of the weekend we hung-out around the house and didn't do much. I played WoW, she began some drawings. It was a good weekend and it gave us time to be together with just each other.

Other than that, Tropical Storm Alberto is coming through Jax this morning. No big deal, just rainy and windy. I need to get in hurricane supplies too... I'm out of coffee.

Dirty Cat Chins & other fun activities...

It's been an interesting time at work recently, moving desks and getting used to a new work routine. It is both fun and tiring. I was really dragging this morning, but that's my own fault for staying up too late the night before. I've been using my weekend time for playing WoW a lot, maybe too much... got chores to do... like cleaning the cat's chins...

Turns out cats get dirty chins, the oil on their chins builds up and grabs food from the cat bowls when they eat and it just gets nasty. So I spent Monday night holding each one down and washing thier chins off with a hot wash cloth. They didn't object to much... however, next time I have to start doing it with peroxide and I know they won't like that at all. Perl has it the worst and CC has it the least. Hopefully it will pass soon with me keeping them clean.

I'm gonna spend some time tonight making some really wide desktop backgrounds. I got a dual-monitor setup at work and I want some nice backgrounds to cover the whole things. I'll post a link to them once I get some created.

Hi Maggie!!

So Maggie was telling me that my blog was getting boring b/c I hadn't been posting often enough, so this is a "Hello Maggie, Look I'm Posting" post.

Today I'm helping Pooks clean a little and I'm going to try to be a little lazy. We watched "Kingdom of Heaven" last night. A very good movie about the crusades and God and politics and people. I think it was a little heavy on the idea that people "just want to get along" and don't firmly beleive in their religon's. It kinda got wishy washy on that point with people either feeling alone without God or people just being asses, only a few really seemed to understand what it meant to be Christian. Of course that's everywhere.

When Pooks & I were helping clean up the church grounds for Easter, pulling weeds, planting flowers, ranking leaves and generally just getting dirty the organizer of the event told us they had gotten some doughnuts for the workers. So after awhile of working we went back to the church hall and found two boxes of doughnuts, so we grabbed a couple of doughnuts and were standing talking about the work. A lady came up to us and told us that those doughnuts were for the choir and we should be eating them. Ummm.... OK, we told her we had been working on the church and they told us to come back to get something to eat, and she said that was ok, but those were choir doughnuts. I was offended and shocked. It's just one more person, that while going to church, has no idea what Christianity is really about.
